Fire Station and Utilities Office Open Houses

Fire Station and Utilities Office Open Houses

September 21st and 22nd, 2018

Event date: 9/21/2018 Export event

The City of Clemson Utilities Department invites the community to celebrate the grand opening of the new wastewater treatment plant office and laboratory located at 300 Cochran Road. The new office is the first phase of a 15.6 million dollar treatment plant expansion that will double the treatment plant’s capacity. This expansion is necessary to support the commercial growth occurring in the City and to maintain compliance with SCDHEC regulations. This project includes a new headwork’s structure for screening and grit removal, a new influent pump station,  upgrades to the existing EQ basin, conversion from a biological process to membrane bio-reactor (MBR) technology, new UV disinfection, a new post aeration basin, and a new effluent pump station. The expansion will also include all necessary instrumentation and controls.

The Clemson University Fire Department and the City of Clemson invite the community to visit Clemson’s new Fire Station located at 740 Issaqueena Trail. Residents will be able to tour the facility, meet their local firefighters, get an upclose look at firefighting equipment, and learn more about their lifesaving techniques. Our fire fighters are excited to welcome the community they serve into their new facility. A blood drive is also being planned for Saturday morning at the Fire Station. All who donate will receive a $10 Walmart gift card. Click here to sign up to donate blood. The new 3.4 million dollar, 10,000 square foot substation was built to ensure quick response times and provide the highest level of public safety in our growing community. The City of Clemson shares a fire department with Clemson University through an interagency agreement that allows the CUFD to provide fire suppression services on campus and throughout the City. Rapid growth and increased traffic on the east side of town made it necessary for the City to provide the CUFD with a substation to make sure their firefighters are able to provide the same exemplary level of protection to all members of the community.

Both open houses will be held on Friday, September 21st from 3pm to 7pm and Saturday, September 22nd from 9am to 1pm.
