VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM THE CHIEF OF POLICE

VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM THE CHIEF OF POLICE

I want our residents to be aware we are experiencing an overabundance of break-ins throughout the City.  The break-ins are occurring to homes as well as vehicles.  Over the past couple months the majority of these have been residential break-ins.  The Police Department is working diligently to find the person(s) responsible for committing these acts.  We are deploying additional patrol personnel from off-duty to work specifically in residential neighborhoods in an effort to be more visible, identify persons acting in a suspicious nature, and serve as a deterrent to potential criminal activity.  There is no one specific neighborhood or location within the City where this is occurring; however, a majority of these have occurred during the daylight hours.

You can help.  Most importantly, please call the Police Department at 864-624-2000 in the event you see anyone walking or riding around your neighborhood that does not appear to belong there.  Call 911 if there is any type of emergency condition existing.  If you are going to be out of town over the Christmas or New Year’s holidays, either call the Department or go to the Police web page at http://www.cityofclemson.org/police/vacation-watch-e-form and register your house for a vacation watch while you are away.  While away, be sure to have someone picking up your mail and or paper deliveries; along with placing your interior and exterior lights on random timers.

It is going to take all of us to catch the individual(s) responsible for this.  As I have stated previously, the most important call may be the one you chose not to make.  We appreciate any assistance you provide and will respond to any call you make.

Sincerely:

Jimmy Dixon

Chief of Police
